You came for the Old Town. The forest starts where the streets end.
Vilnius is one of the greenest capitals in Europe, and much of that green is real forest: hillsides of pine and oak that have grown here for a couple of centuries. Few visitors ever step into it.
Keen hikers will love it, and you don’t need to be one. There’s no route to research, no guessing which path is safe or whether a view is worth the climb. A local guide who knows this forest leads the way, keeps the pace comfortable and shares the stories behind what you see.
Three hours, planned from start to finish, with coffee and sandwiches included. You get the most out of your time in Vilnius, without the guesswork.
How the walk unfolds
The order can change with the season and the group.
-
Into the old forest
We meet at the trailhead and leave the city behind within minutes, walking under trees that have stood here for generations.
-
Valleys and forest bathing
We drop into quiet valleys with open meadows and apple trees for a slow, guided stretch of walking and listening. Phones away, senses on.
-
The view over the city
From the high points you see Vilnius from an angle that isn’t on any postcard: a capital sitting inside a sea of trees.
-
Coffee on the hill
A proper break with specialty coffee, tea and fresh sandwiches, outdoors.
-
The ghost ski resort
On the way back: overgrown slopes and fragments of a ski resort from the 1960s–80s, and the stories of a Vilnius that has almost been forgotten.

Your guide
Arnas Dilys Founder and guide
For over ten years I worked as a product manager at software companies like Wix and Omnisend. For about twenty years I’ve lived in Antakalnis, a neighbourhood of steep, pine-covered hills whose name means roughly “on the hill”. Even so, it took me far too long to notice that a deep, old forest starts ten minutes from my front door.
Once I did, I kept going back: to clear my head, to think, or simply to be there. I found viewpoints most people have forgotten, and kept returning just to sit and look over the city.
Few capitals in the world are this green, yet many locals have never seen these views, and visitors rarely venture into a forest in a city they don’t know. So I started bringing them. Let me be your host. See you in the forest.

Questions
What happens if the weather is bad?
We walk in light rain and cold: that’s part of the forest. If there is an official warning for storms, thunderstorms, heavy rain, extreme heat or extreme cold, we cancel and you choose between a new date and a full refund.
Can I cancel my ticket?
Tickets are for a specific date and time, so they are non-refundable. If you can’t make it, you’re welcome to pass your ticket to a friend: just tell us their name.
Do I need to be fit?
You need to be comfortable walking about 8.5 km over three hours, with some uphill sections. The pace is relaxed and there are plenty of stops.
What’s for lunch?
You choose for each person when booking: salmon wrap, beef quesadilla, pulled pork sandwich, or a vegetarian beetroot and lentil wrap, with black coffee or seasonal tea. Allergen information is available on request.
Can I change my lunch order?
Yes, until 18:00 the day before your walk. Email [email protected] with your name and the new choice.
Can children join?
Yes, from age 12. The route is long and steep in places, so it isn’t suitable for younger children, and we can’t take anyone under 12 on the walk. Guests aged 12–17 need to come with a parent or guardian.
What language is the walk in?
English.
Will the walk run if only a few people book?
Yes. Every booked time goes ahead, even with one guest.
Can we book the whole group privately?
Book all 10 places at one time and the walk is yours alone.
